Frequently asked questions about wooden floors

Answers to the most important questions about parquet, installation and care.

Which wood species are suitable for underfloor heating?

Oak, walnut and ash are particularly suitable. The installation method is key — engineered parquet with a low build-up height conducts heat optimally. We advise you individually on the best combination of wood species and heating system.

How long does it take to install a parquet floor?

For an average apartment (80–120 m²), we plan 3–5 working days — depending on the subfloor, installation pattern and surface treatment. Drying time after oiling adds an additional 1–2 days.

What does a premium wooden floor cost per square metre?

Quality parquet including installation starts at approx. CHF 120.–/m². Premium wood species with elaborate patterns (e.g. herringbone) range from CHF 180–280.–/m². We are happy to provide a detailed quotation for your project.

Can existing parquet be renovated rather than replaced?

In many cases, yes — solid parquet and premium engineered parquet can be sanded and re-sealed or re-oiled 2–4 times, depending on the wear layer. We assess the condition on site and recommend the most cost-effective solution.

Oiled or sealed — which is better?

Oil emphasises the natural wood appearance and allows spot repairs. Sealing provides more robust protection and is easier to maintain. For living spaces we often recommend hard oil; for high-traffic areas, a matt seal.
